Several generations ago, the corner of the West Village between West 14th Street and Gansevoort Street and west of 9th Avenue was where the city’s meats were packed and shipped. Today, the Meatpacking District packs in crowds for an entirely different reason: to visit the blockbuster High Line Park, to shop at the Meatpacking District’s numerous high-end boutiques and to let loose in its booming nightlife scene.
